After 20 years, Odysseus finally returns to Ithaca
There, he finds his wife captured by suitors vying for kingship, and his son facing death at their hands. To reunite with his family and everything he has lost, Odysseus must regain his strength.

Odysseus: For some, war becomes home
This memoir aims to immerse the viewer in the multifactorial pain and suffering of Penelope and Odysseus during Odysseus’ return to Ithaca and aims to systematically examine the challenges that many soldiers face upon returning from active service, including PTSD and other psychological issues, reintegration into their former family and social lives, as well as flashbacks of memories and pain endured and inflicted, and the irreversible internal change that results. “The Return” is brought to life by a great selection of cast that allows the viewer to experience this roller coaster ride in which the two main protagonists reach significant heights, the latter reflecting the unique and particular perseverance of Penelope and Odysseus during this difficult period of their lives and without mutual support.
In fact, the two are kept quite apart for most of the build-up, which only makes the catharsis of the more intense, thriller-like later part of the otherwise slower film all the more powerful
Fiennes brings his unique style of depicting suffering to this work – a great extension of his wonderful skills from his similar depictions of pain and anguish in Spider and The End of an Affair. Binoche is the perfect choice for Penelope because the viewer could somehow be led to feel and hope that the two will get back together in the same way they were close in The English Patient and Pasolini exploits this in This work creates an added excitement for those who still remember The English Patient very well.
It is a beautiful and very relevant work that must be experienced!
