A land grab threatens to destroy the fading dynasty
Plot
When the vast Lawson cattle ranch has no heir, rival factions in Australia see an opportunity to take over. The series was filmed in the Northern Territory and South Australia in remote locations that are barely inhabited, let alone on screen. Locations include the UNESCO World Heritage-listed Kakadu National Park, with special permission from the traditional owners, and Tipperary Station, a real working cattle station so large it has its own airport and school.
Yes, it will look like Yellowstone
Yes, it has the same storylines, conflicts and unusual characters. Yes, many similar problems can be pointed out. Two main problems for me are what happens simply because it has to move the plot forward.
Actions that make no sense
The family patriarch just decides the succession without seriously considering the pros and cons of each option. The second is the plot holes, which exist for a similar reason and serve to move the plot forward. The station is said to be the size of Belgium, but it is run by the family (initially 4 members, later expanded to a bit more) and a skeleton crew.
Tensions rise, conflicts deepen, passions flare up
But of course greedy companies try to take it away from them. I also didn’t like how everything was constantly building up. then things are resolved within half an hour (sort of).
Good camera work, beautiful nature
But it’s not a bad show if you can look past that.
